By Daily Mail Reporter. A year-old woman has opened up about her own 'sexual awakening', 15 years after her husband died. Lynn Brown Rosenberg, a self-confessed 'sexually conservative nice Jewish girl' from California, revealed in a candid essay for Salon that at age 69 she 'was practically a virgin' because of her own sexual repression. But now she wanted 'mad, passionate, down-and-dirty sex' and was willing to try anything in order to experience the 'excitement' she had been missing her entire life. It wasn't long before Ms Rosenberg found free dating sex websites where she signed up a Sensualnights16 and listed her age as 63, with a picture that showed her 'lips, chin and breasts underneath a T-shirt' pictured. Ms Rosenberg's urologist suggested she get a vibrator and start with some porn. But forcing herself out of her comfort zone, she visited the West Hollywood specialty store Pleasure Chest and decided to try something called 'Budding Bliss'. Why not? If I was going to stoop, why not stoop all the way?

Nothing is more irritating to author Connie Goldman than the stereotypes out there about older people and sex -- especially the one about seniors not having sex. At age 76, Goldman spends a great deal of her time trying to counter those stereotypes. It may not be that very hot passionate feeling that you had when you were 19, but it certainly isn't gone," Goldman says. Surveys back her up. A poll conducted by the AARP found that sexual desire runs deep among people in their 50s, 60s, 70s, and beyond. Many older people are able to put those feelings into action as well: About one out of three people over 70 who have regular partners said they have intercourse at least once a week.
Most older Britons are making love as often as their younger counterparts, a survey revealed yesterday. The largest study of sexual behaviour among men and women aged 40 to 80 has found that love-making is still a key part of relationships. Although at an age when they may be juggling the demands of work and parenthood - or relaxing in retirement - 59 per cent of UK men and women make love once a week, according to the Pfizer Global Study of Sexual Attitudes and Behaviours. Other recent research revealed that the majority of 16 to year-olds also have sex once a week. Sex expert Dr Rosie King, who helped launch the research, said: 'Until now the sexual habits of older people have remained something of a mystery. We are embarrassed by the idea that our grannies and grandpas could possibly have sex. We denigrate older people as useless, toothless, hairless and sexless. The study by Pfizer, which makes the impotence drug Viagra, looked at the sex habits of 26, older people and pensioners in 29 countries,. The UK, however, was not as passionate as its European neighbours, particularly the Italians and Spanish.
