Dragon Roost Island
The island is easily noticeable by the tall mountain in its center. The King of Red Lions will give you the Wind Waker when you disembark and he will teach you how to play it. Nearby in the grass is a bomb that you can pick up and throw or drop near the bomb. After it explodes it will destroy the rock as well, allowing you to climb higher and higher. Continue along the path and you will eventually reach a gap that is too large to jump. Sidle across to the other side like in the Forsaken Fortress and then drop down to the lower level. Use a bomb to blow up the rock below the blocks and go through the tunnel on the other side. Head up the platform to the left and go inside the doorway at the top. The chieftain will speak with another Rito and offers to help you… after they deal with their own problem first. The Chieftain tells you that when a Rito reaches adulthood he or she journeys to the top of Dragon Roost and receives a scale from Valoo which gives them the ability to fly.

Sail to the east towards the large rock pillar you see in the distance, or simply follow your Compass in the lower left corner. This baton is very similar to the Ocarina from the N64 games, but you have to pay close attention to the rhythm. In order to "conduct" a melody, you have to push the right control stick into a direction when the rhythm indicator is in the middle. You don't have to push the stick at the right point -- you just have to be pushing the stick by the time the indicator passes the middle point. Try it out, then get ready to explore the island. Find the Bomb Flowers over to the left and use the explosives on the small and large rocks that block the winding path ahead. Remember, A throws a Bomb , B puts it down in front of you. Sidle along the wall to cross the narrow ledge above the broken bridge, then blow up the rock underneath the two mossy stone blocks.
